Classicistic cameo with 3 cherubs in shell and gold, XIX / XX century

Classicistic cameo – relief carved in a shell.
This specimen presents 3 cherubs playing with a goat.
The natural shell used here is slightly convex,
probably originating from the coastal waters of East Africa
or the Atlantic Ocean (around Cuba, the Caribbean).
The whole sculpture is very detailed and the precision of reflecting the animal’s character and bristles.
The shell is quite thin, slightly translucent – which adds to it
subtlety and emphasizes the original, historic character of this cameo.
The method of binding, i.e. the withdrawn golden frame, is characteristic
for older products from the turn of the century, displaying the cameo relief itself.
White of the form in a very well-preserved bright color.
No signs of defects, perfect condition.
